Another year of school rolls around and with it brings a new Silver Scribe staff. Every year seniors leave and we rebuild. The fresh year is like a new beginning, a restart for the staff of The Silver Scribe.
Kelsi McCabe, who has an eye for any mistake, has replaced Renee Disher as the Copy Editor, and the place of News Editor previously held by Sydney Miles is now held by the incredibly intelligent Mary Hamner.
Taking care of the Editorials and Opinions section is the witty Bianca Garcia, and Carlie Wilson is taking over Features with her artful tastes.
Our bright and creative Jordan Jolley is taking over Cassie Tolhurst’s position of In Depth Editor.
Michael Hogan will be handling the sports position that used to be under Aaron Woods.
Alan Price will be the Layout Editor, and as a new addition to the paper, there will be a website, of which Aaron Woods will be the editor.
The website will have exclusive content and extended stories and photos from the printed issues. The website will be one of our many ways we will relay the student’s views.
As always the staff wants to encourage as much communication with the Riverton High students as possible. Every month in Letters to the Editor we print letters from students.
It is easy to turn in letters to our news room, or to Ms. Squire’s room or even in her box in the main office. Also, they can be sent to the paper’s e-mail at silverscriberhs@yahoo.com.
The letters can be on thoughts of the school, suggestions for our paper, or just comments on past issues. The limit is 250 words, and must be signed and dated with the student’s name and class level.
Over the summer the staff deliberated a lot about the paper and made plenty of changes. Creatively and modern to make it look updated but keep it familiar.
The staff is eager for the new year.
Also we greatly appreciate the administration and faculty’s support on all of our work.
We would also like to extend our gratitude to Jim Fisher the advisor of University of Utah’s student newspaper, for helping. Also Taco Time and Starbucks.
