The Distribute Education Club of America (DECA) is currently recruiting members for its Riverton chapter, headed by advisor Tom Wood and president, Gia Rushton, with help from the rest of the chapter officers.

This year’s goal is to have 100 members by Nov. 13.

On Oct. 19 and 20, some of this year’s DECA officers took a trip to Park City to participate in “Momentum,” a leadership conference attended by hundreds of officers from across the state.

“[I had fun] meeting new people, and making new friends,” said officer Myrna Rodriguez, junior.

In order to entice RHS students to join, Wood is offering multiple incentives including a free field trip to “Jump On It,” a giant trampoline arena in Lindon, Utah, and even a free Café Rio lunch.

The first 100 people to join will also receive this year’s DECA T-shirt.

“Since this is my first year, I’m looking forward to the competitions because I’ve never been to one before, and also the activities we have planned out for this year,” said Rodriguez.

The cost to join is $15, and is to be paid in the main office. Payment is due by Friday, November 13 to receive the Cafe Rio, and the trip to “Jump on It.”
