According to the Box Office Mojo website (boxofficemojo.com) the most recent dance flick, “Fame,” has brought in $21,896,248 so far. With its somewhat familiar story line and many new actors, it was a hit.

“Fame” is a remake of the 1980 classic Oscar award-winning film. While upholding a regular school life with homework and friends, these students are preparing themselves for fame.

“Fame” is rated Rated PG for thematic material including teen drinking, a sexual situation and language.

All types of teenagers are given the chance to prove themselves as talented young singers, actors, and dancers. They need dedication, a strong mind, and to work harder than ever.

With actors such as Kelsey Grammer, Megan Mullally, Debbie Allen, and Asher Book, this movie definitely lives up to its potential.

The popular show “So You Think You Can Dance” had Kherington Payne two seasons ago as a top 10 contestant on the show. After succeeding on this TV show, she tried out for the movie and landed a spot.

Growing up in California, Payne always loved dancing but she also liked acting, soccer, and modeling. She found time for all of them but exceeded at dance. After “So You Think You Can Dance”, she thought she would try out acting.

In “Fame”, she plays Alice, one of the main dancers in the movie. This was hard for her because she had so much going on, like her high school graduation. Now she wishes she could know what it feels like to graduate.

“It was a learning experience. It was challenging. I had no life always doing the show and things like the “So You Think You Can Dance tour,” said Payne.

But the movie was fun at the same time. It was very modern and had incredible dancers and great music. Payne believed that she could really connect with her character Alice. She is very much like her in real life.

Payne said it was stressful and there was a lot of pressure from being in a big movie. She loved it though and is now working on another movie called “Leading Ladies”.
