2009 Silver Rush Brings out Best in Student Body

By Stephen Ditty

Sacrifice, hope, benevolence, caring, and charity were some of the many emotions during the 09-10 Silver Rush fundraiser for the Road Home homeless shelter.

While some money was donated by business companies, the vast majority of the money was made during activities. Odd jobs, Battle of the Bands, lunchroom activities and even an SBO date auction were some of the activities used to raise money.

Junior Janelle Nixon said, “I was involved in all sorts of activities over Silver Rush, like odd jobs, caroling, lunchroom, buying hot chocolate, and even having a mustache painted on me.”

Nixon said that participating in the activities made her feel “warm and fuzzy inside.”

Each activity, although small, helped to make Silver Rush so successful and able to help The Road Home provide a safe home for others.
