Bathroom Mayhem

Gum on the floors, graffiti on the walls, urinating on the floors and in the sinks. The fact of the matter is, students are careless about how the bathrooms are treated. The school custodians work hard every day to make sure that all of the bathrooms get cleaned and then after hours of work, the bathrooms become a disaster.

RHS custodians David Hoover and Leland Taylor talked about the things that go on in the bathrooms that most people do not know about. Hoover talked about how during school-hosted activities, such as plays and sporting events, students sneak alcohol into the bathrooms and hide it inside the girls waste baskets. He also talked about how occasionally the custodians catch couples getting their “romance” on in the bathrooms.

Taylor talked about what grosses him out the most. He said, “When girls put on their lipstick and then kiss the mirrors, do they even stop to think about how many people touch that mirror after they use the bathroom?”

The custodians also commented on the fact that boys don’t always find it necessary to use a urinal. They seem to think that the walls and sinks work just fine.

It is socially unacceptable to pee in the sink when there is a toilet right next to you. Public bathrooms are gross enough without students’ immaturity. Girls need to stop writing their sob stories on the bathroom stalls because nobody cares. Maybe they should get a journal. The boys need to learn to use the urinals, not the walls. If it’s that hard to aim, then they should sit down. And, as for all the couples out there, find somewhere cleaner than a nasty public bathroom to make out.

The RHS custodians work hard to keep our bathrooms sanitary, cleaning them at least once every day. They have to clean up the pee on the floors, and scrub the dry lipstick off of the mirrors. They are spending extra time cleaning up messes that should not be there in the first place. Please respect their hard work and try not to make their jobs any tougher than they already are.
